The New Restaurant on the Corner

My background knowledge of the new Hilton Garden Inn is pretty in-depth, as my husband worked on that renovation project. But I didn't have the chance to try the brand new TR Fire Grill restaurant located on the corner of Kuhio Avenue and Walina Street until yesterday. 

The menu is a take on classic American items with a New American Cuisine flare. Portions are meant to be large and flavors bold. While incorporating the use of local ingredients, and produce from local farmers, the menu hosts items like burgers, oven-roasted chicken, flank steak and bacon wrapped meatloaf. The restaurant also offers an all you can eat breakfast buffet (all inclusive for $19), Local Hour served 2-7pm at the bar and featuring $4-8 apps and $5-8 drinks (wine, beer, cocktails).

My favorite items from the hosted lunch included the: Zing Zing Shrimp $14 a nice crunch to the Chinese-style fried shrimps served with a chili aioli. Great texture and nice creaminess from the sauce then a little kick of spice on the end.
Chicken & Waffles $18 served with white Wisconsin Cheddar and agave syrup. The waffle was savory and very hearty. The chicken was fried perfectly and oh so tender and juicy. ​
​The signature dessert is a cross between a waffle and a donut - therefore it is called Wonuts - dipped in chocolate and topped with powdered sugar. The dessert has the texture of a crisp waffle, deep fried like a donut. It also reminded me of andagi for some reason. A full order will cost $10 and includes five wonuts.
