Kissaten adds new menu items

Picture
Acai Bowl $7.50
I think it's safe to say many people know I used to work at KHON, but what some might not realize is there is a cafe located on the mauka corner of the building that serves up some delicious treats, tasty dishes and some of the best breakfast items I've ever had. I mean the breakfast croissant sandwich was one of my faves when it came to a hearty and delicious breakfast, affordably priced. Open 24/7 and easily accessible from Piikoi and Waimanu Streets this was the place I went to when I needed a moment to getaway, grab a bite and stare out the window and watch the cars go by.

It's exciting to note that after being open since 2010 the menu continues to grow, change and adapt to the latest trends. Rotating specials, enhanced specialty dishes and added touches to make guests smile keep this cafe in business. Here's a look at some of the new menu items added to the already popular mainstays. I can't wait to head back so I can eat some more!

Chorizo breakfast Burrito $8. I used to love getting the breakfast burrito as it was super filling, so big I would have leftovers and comes with a side of sour cream and homemade fresh salsa. Chorizo adds a great complex flavor to this entree.
Picture
Portabello Mushroom "Burger" $9.50 - I was always looking for non-meat items when I was vegetarian for 8 months and mushrooms are a great substitute because they are meaty and delicious! YUM!
Picture
Pastrami with Swiss Melt $9.50 is a good combination of flavors, creamy, salty and chewy textures! They are also known for their Kissaten Melt which is to die for!
Picture
Hello baby! I love me some good ramen and my husband is a huge fan of miso ramen, so this is the perfect dish, especially late night. Say hello to the Miso Ramen served from 10pm-6am "overnight" for only $8! Stay up late!

Are you a fan of gummy fruity candy like me? Well rainbows and gummy fruity goodness are coming your way with the addition of Add a Rainbow to any beverage - that means you can add this sunny colorful topping with whipped cream to any drink and it's sure to make you smile!
Also known for their Grilled Cheese, Truffle Mac n Cheese and Tomato Bisque - be sure to stop in and try some of the new menu items and treats.

No filter needed at Royal Lahaina Resort

Looking for a place to stay that's a bit off the beaten path, away from the crowds, complete with breathtaking views, has all the amenities of a standard resort, but is half the price and also showcases an historic, yet authentic Hawaiian charm? Well look no further. I discovered the Royal Lahaina Resort on my recent trip to Maui and I gotta be honest, I am ready to go back, in a heartbeat! Located just beyond the more luxurious and newer Kaanapali hotels this place is nestled beyond the golf course and on your way toward Kapalua. It appears to be an older location, reminiscent of the Don Ho days, tropical flowers, friendly valet, approachable staff, open air, breezeway's with crafters, jewelry makers and etc in the lobby. The location, however, is pristine! Located right on Ka'anapali beach with 3 pools, a jacuzzi, barefoot bar, shuffle board, lounge chairs, umbrellas and more... This place is thankfully a bit quieter and more relaxing than the main part of Kaanapali.

One of my former co-workers from 15 years ago was visiting Honolulu when he gave me his card. I thought the hotel was located in Lahaina, like Front Street side, but to my surprise it was just past Black Rock and away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourism district. Renovated in 2007, the rooms are modern, yet functional and welcoming. The sink that would normally be located in the bathroom is actually next to the bathroom and doubles as a bar and kitchen sink, this is very convenient. Best of all the unobstructed view is well worth the stay! Panoramic views of the blue ocean with Lana'i and Moloka'i in the distance is priceless. I don't know how many pictures I snapped from the comfy balcony complete with chairs and table, I was addicted to the stunning turquoise, topaz and sky blue sea below.

We stayed in Lahaina Kai tower, but I might add, the resort also offers specialty suites and cottages beachside, tennis courts, a luau and more. The hotel rooms in the tower run from $195-395 a night, and kama'aina special discounts will score you even better deals! Add to that live nightly entertainment, happy hour specials, daily activities and super friendly staff/service! If you're looking for something with a chill, relaxing and casually festive vibe this is the place! Truly, this place is so beautiful and picture perfect there is absolutely no filter needed on your images when it comes to the Royal Lahaina Resort! Everybody Wang Chung's tonight

Picture
Can you say Nachos! Uncle Juan Tachos - kalua pig, nacho sauce, pico de gallo on won ton chips. BOMB!
If you've never heard of Wang Chung's karaoke bar, you are missing out. This hole-in-the-wall, which used to be the size of a bedroom, has a new location and an amazing kitchen now serving up some delicious asian/latin food! If you love a good time, singing karaoke, casual atmosphere, delectable dishes along with whimsical drinks, and the sense of family and aloha you will never want to leave. The vibe is very welcoming, charming and all the staff are super fun and loving. The gay-friendly atmosphere does attract the straight crowd along with passersby and hotel guests too, you are sure to feel comfortable and invited to eat, drink and be merry!

Wang Chung's Karaoke Bar - located in Stay Hotel

This was my favorite dish of the night: Saigon Pork Hash Sliders - vietnamese pork patties on sweet bread with pickled vegetables. Its a Banh Mi without all that hard bread.
Picture
Flied Pickels - everything on the menu has a fun and magical name, paying homage to FOB characteristics and fiercely funny asians.

Chef Mexican Randy does a great job of combining bar/comfort food with a twist. The flavors are bold, well balanced and full of fun. Also try the chicken torta!!
