12/12/2014 Christmas Lagoon Dazzles![]() If you are like most who live on Oahu, it's probably been a while since you visited the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). I have had the honor of visiting the site a couple of times a year over the past couple of years. And I must say the event I look forward to the most is the Christmas Lagoon event. PCC's Christmas Lagoon ride is a 30 minute adventure (at night) on the water lagoon within the center. The staff greet you with lots of holiday cheer, smiles, dance and song. The diverse cultures are apparent in the workers who are often students at BYUH. People from around the island and the globe gather each year to hear the story of Christmas and the traditions that were born from this annual holiday. On each brief stop, you never get off the boat, performers sing, dance, act and tell the story of Christmas and how it is celebrated around the world from little islands and such. The decor is amazing, with lots of decorated trees, an abundance of lights, live farm animals like horses, sheep, ponies and ducks. The performers are a broad range of little keiki to kupuna. If you love the spirit of Christmas this is a must see event. I don't want to give away too much, but you see and hear the historic stories of Jesus and then visit places like India, France and more! This Hawaiian winter wonderland starts with beautifully decorated trees and decorations in the lobby and throughout the center. Once you get to the Lagoon ride area there are many photo opportunities with Santa, statue penguins and throughout the area. You board a boat which seats 5 people in a row, try and sit in the front or along the ends. Bring your cameras and phones to take video and photos as you won't want to miss the chance to shoot these amazing visuals. My recommendation, make a night of it - have dinner in Laie or nearby and then stop by for the ride. You can also take photos with the gigantic surfing santa out front! So much fun! It's a bit chilly out there so bring a scarf or a light jacket too. The lagoon ride kicks off Friday 12/12/14, then continues on select dates below. December: Saturday 12/13, Monday 12/15, Wednesday 12/17, Saturday 12/20, Monday 12/22 & FINAL NIGHT Tuesday, 12/23 Rides from 6:45-9:00 p.m. - get there before 8:15 p.m., things start to shutdown around 8:30 p.m. Admission: Tickets for Christmas Lagoon are $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 5-11.
