Oh Scratch, how I love thee!

Nestled in the heart of Chinatown are a few of my favorite eateries. I must say that if you took me to lunch or dinner at Kan Zaman, Little Village, JJ Dolans, Lucky Belly, Livestock Tavern or Pig & The Lady I would be a very happy camper. Add this gem of a brunch spot called Scratch and I kinda wished I lived walking distance away. Scratch Kitchen & Bakeshop is a southern-inspired restaurant that recently started serving dinner. I haven't been for dinner yet because I love the breakfast items too much. But I am sure I will make my way there eventually. 

The food is really good, but don't go in thinking that you'll have a light bite to eat. The flavors are all very complex, the food is rich and often you can take home leftovers for a late lunch or even dinner later. Some of my favorites include the french toast, milk & cereal pancakes and the benedict. The menu changes seasonally but you can always find something tasty, sweet or savory and delicious here. And if you love bacon get a side of bacon too. Here's a look at some of the winter menu offerings.

Milk & cereal pancakes with frosted flakes, seasonal fruits and topped with sweetened condensed milk "syrup". These are one of the best pancakes ever.

Seriously their kim chee bloddy mary is one of the best!
