No filter needed at Royal Lahaina Resort

Looking for a place to stay that's a bit off the beaten path, away from the crowds, complete with breathtaking views, has all the amenities of a standard resort, but is half the price and also showcases an historic, yet authentic Hawaiian charm? Well look no further. I discovered the Royal Lahaina Resort on my recent trip to Maui and I gotta be honest, I am ready to go back, in a heartbeat! Located just beyond the more luxurious and newer Kaanapali hotels this place is nestled beyond the golf course and on your way toward Kapalua. It appears to be an older location, reminiscent of the Don Ho days, tropical flowers, friendly valet, approachable staff, open air, breezeway's with crafters, jewelry makers and etc in the lobby. The location, however, is pristine! Located right on Ka'anapali beach with 3 pools, a jacuzzi, barefoot bar, shuffle board, lounge chairs, umbrellas and more... This place is thankfully a bit quieter and more relaxing than the main part of Kaanapali.

One of my former co-workers from 15 years ago was visiting Honolulu when he gave me his card. I thought the hotel was located in Lahaina, like Front Street side, but to my surprise it was just past Black Rock and away from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourism district. Renovated in 2007, the rooms are modern, yet functional and welcoming. The sink that would normally be located in the bathroom is actually next to the bathroom and doubles as a bar and kitchen sink, this is very convenient. Best of all the unobstructed view is well worth the stay! Panoramic views of the blue ocean with Lana'i and Moloka'i in the distance is priceless. I don't know how many pictures I snapped from the comfy balcony complete with chairs and table, I was addicted to the stunning turquoise, topaz and sky blue sea below.

We stayed in Lahaina Kai tower, but I might add, the resort also offers specialty suites and cottages beachside, tennis courts, a luau and more. The hotel rooms in the tower run from $195-395 a night, and kama'aina special discounts will score you even better deals! Add to that live nightly entertainment, happy hour specials, daily activities and super friendly staff/service! If you're looking for something with a chill, relaxing and casually festive vibe this is the place! Truly, this place is so beautiful and picture perfect there is absolutely no filter needed on your images when it comes to the Royal Lahaina Resort!
