Bills launches Happy Hour

The Waikiki restaurant best known for its delectable ricotta pancakes and lovely brunch is now gearing up to serve happy hour. Oh you know that period of the day when people are still at work and the lunch crowd has departed and you're setting up for dinner... What do you do to fill the lull? Serve up a delightful, affordable and colorful happy hour menu! That's right, Bills has done it and here's what you will find at the Waikiki eatery.

The flatbread pizzas are amazing and this take on poke was innovative, creative and fresh.

This calamari was tender and could've been a bit more crisp. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was excellent! On the backend of this photo is the goat cheese with rosemary flatbread, which was very light and a fun dish if you love goat cheese with fresh herbs.

Happy Hour officially launches on Friday April 8th and is served from 3-6pm. Drink options range from beer $3, wine and well spirits $5, cocktails $6. And all food items are $6-9.

We absolutely loved the cocktails. They were each very bright, colorful, tasty and a very generous portion with a nice heavy hand on the pour.

The slider was simple, yet tasty. The fries were also clean and without too much seasoning. Everything was cooked perfectly and went well with the drinks.

This new signage serves as a great reminder that Bills is open and now serves happy hour. The downstairs coffee cafe is under renovation right now so don't worry the upstairs is OPEN and you can still get your brunch on too.

Korean fried chicken with dipping sauce. I have had this before and it's ok if you like fried chicken its similar to mochiko, the sauce is a ko chu jung style and you eat this like lettuce wraps. Fun finger food.

Their take on the Blue Hawaii, flor de cana run and tito's vodka served with lemon, pineapple and blue curacao. Very refreshing.

My favorite cocktail was the Hibiscus Margarita made with El Jimador Tequila, fresh hibiscus lime sour and a fresh orange slice. This was not only a vibrant and breautiful drink with a hot pink color, but the flavor was like a refined spiked punch, very elegant and perfectly paired sweet and sour. Delicious.

The standout small plate for me was the poke served with avocado, pickled shimeji mushrooms, sea asparagus and sesame seeds. A great combination of flavors, textures and new ingredients to poke not often seen or tasted together.

A must-order item is the pepperoni pizza, served flatbread-style the crust is really thin and the toppings are so tasty. The pizza is generously topped with fresh mozzarella, zucchini slivers, pepperoni, arugula (known as "rocket" down under) and lemon. Superb, really delicious. The crunchy crust with the cheese and greens on top is a great mixture of sweet, savory, citrus, spice and etc.

Bills Sydney in Waikiki is open Monday-Sunday 7am-10pm, they serve breakfast, lunch, happy hour (4/8), dinner and drinks. Located on Beachwalk Avenue makai of Hard Rock Cafe, validated parking is available at the Bank of Hawaii across the street for $6 after 3pm.
